Good Things Come To Those Who Wait..

The Honey Pot Shop was featured on the front page of Etsy! For those of you who know how Etsy works, this is a pretty big accomplishment. It takes hard work, good pictures, and A LOT of luck. I've been working my butt off at making sure my Etsy site is up to par, so it's good to know that hard work pays off, even if it takes a little while.

Turn That Frown Upside Down

Sometimes, a horrible day can turn around in an instant. Sometimes, a bad mood can be made better by one word. A few days ago I was feeling a little down on my luck. Ever have one of those days where nothing seems to be going right? It seems like on those days it starts out with one thing and then turns into 100 others.

Getting to my point.. I was definitely having one of those days, and with one phone call the whole day turned around. I got a call from a gallery that houses some of my work telling me that I had an excellent month and sold some of my berry bowls! From that moment on, the whole day seemed to brighten. The bottom line is that just because your day starts out crappy, doesn't mean it has to end like that...

Determined

Found a great new website called craftgawker.com. It's a non-selling way for crafters and artists to showcase their work. Really awesome idea, and beautifully put together in my opinion. Go check it out. 

As for myself, I've been busy carving and throwing and glazing and loading kilns. My schedule as of late is wake up, make some pottery, eat, make some pottery, eat, make some pottery, and so on. Exercise should really be my other priority right now, but for some reason pottery and eating is much more appealing at the moment. 

My newest obsession is completely carved bowls. I've been making berry bowls for a while, which includes a few carvings around a bowl, and handles to hold when you wash your berries. These new bowls can be used to wash fruit, but in my mind they're more for displaying fruit, or to be used as a centerpiece on a coffee table. I love to carve the pieces I make on the wheel, so carving an entire piece seemed like a logical way to maximize my happiness =). They're alot of work, but I think they're worth it in the end. Quit My Day Job

So, I quit my day job. The reasons for this are more then I have time to get into, but it gives me a great chance to focus on what I really love and want to be doing, which is creating. I've posted some new items to my etsy site thehoneypotshop.etsy.com, and tomorrow's plan is to get back on the wheel! I'm more excited then ever, and I hope the extra time and effort will show through my work. Keep checking back for updates!

I just unloaded and loaded another bisque kiln this morning. I'll be glazing and glaze firing them hopefully this weekend, and posting them next week. I also joined a pottery group on facebook this morning, http://www.facebook.com/#!/pages/Pottery/111956652150198 which looks like a great way for potters and pottery lovers to connect. More pieces and pictures coming soon.. <3

In Other News

Not much to do with pottery, but being a nature lover I thought this deserved a post. Some pictures from my Mama's garden. Some beautiful tomatoes and a single jalapeno (my favorite). 

Can't wait till the whole garden's full... <3

Need Sleep

Woke up bright and early this morning to get some pieces trimmed. I just didn't have the motivation to do any of it last night, although now I really wish I had. One thing I will say about trimming while your tired is that it bumps up the possiblity that you'll destroy something of importance, i.e. a beautiful berry bowl. Anyway, my other pieces that DID survive are looking good. I'll update with some pictures of "pieces in progress" soon.

New Work

Took a lot of new photos of my most recent work yesterday thanks to my amazing boyfriend who taught me some quick tips about photography. Also went on the wheel for a while, where after numerous trys and failures, finally made some new pieces. I haven't been on the wheel in a while because of all the shows I had lined up, so it took me a minute to get back into the groove. This is just a sample of what I accomplished. A Revamped Etsy

So clearly I'm not the best at this blogging situation, but I promise to start trying to keep this thing up to date starting now. The craft fairs have slowed down thankfully. Although they're fun, they're a lot of work! While waiting for my next one on July 18th in Nyack, I've been really busy trying to get things set up and keep them up to date on my Etsy page.  Just listed some new items on Etsy thehoneypotshop.etsy.com and on flickr. I've also recently put some of my pieces in a wonderful store in Nyack called The Klay Gallery!

All of this is very exciting and motivating! None of it's easy, but it's all worth it. Check out the new Etsy page. Hope you enjoy!

New Year, New Season

Hi Everyone! It's a brand new year, which means time for some new craft shows and some new pieces! I'm proud to announce a full schedule of shows this year, as well as some brand new functional a decorative pieces I've created. It's going to be a busy and fun filled season, hopefully with very little rain and huge turnouts at events! (always hope for the best) My first show of the new year will be held at Wayne Valley High School in Wayne, New Jersey on March 14th from 10-5. Details of the event will be posted on my calendar (located on the right hand side of this page) within the next few days, and new pieces will be up on my new and improved etsy site, thehoneypotshop.etsy.com, very soon as well. I'm extremely excited to get started, and I hope to either see you at a show or visiting my online shop! Check back soon for all the updates! <3
